Sein Großvater ist die Zydeco-Legende Alphonse 'Bois Sec' Ardoin. Sein Vater Lawrence 'Black' Ardoin ist ebenfalls Bandleader in der Zydeco Musik. Bereits mit vier Jahren trat Chris mit seinem Vater auf.
